Once a stagecoach stop for travelers to Asheville, the Nu Wray is the oldest continuously operating inn in western North Carolina. This great landmark is centrally located on the south side of Burnsville's Town Square, the heart of the historic downtown area. From its two-tiered porch, guests can enjoy the rocking chairs and clean mountain air.
You will join past guests such as Elvis Presley, Thomas Wolfe Mark Twain and O. Henry in the delight of wandering the inn's creaky and twisty stairways. Each of the three floors has sitting rooms decorated with period antiques that can be used for informal meetings or casual gathering with other Inn guests.

Each of the 26 guest rooms and six suites is unique and has its own personality. Most rooms have queen or king size beds. Our suites can accommodate up to 6. If notified ahead of time, we can allow small pets in the rooms. Prices range from $80 to $120 for double occupancy. Call for family suites or group rates.
You can ask to stay in the same room as famous guests including Thomas Wolfe, Mark Twain, Brian Vickers, Christopher Reeve, Dot Jackson and Elvis (The King).
A complimentary country breakfast awaits all Nu Wray guests before they set out for new adventures. Outside guests can enjoy the same breakfast just let us know in advance so we can have the extra biscuit ready. The Fireside Restaurant offers a menu with great variety and meals that are superb. Try our Casual Dining at the Fireside Restaurant Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 8 PM. There is always something special on the menu. Reservations for dinner are suggested and can be made by calling 828.682.2329
Our Creaky Floor Cafe is open for lunch every day from 11:30am to 2:00pm. You may also enjoy a quick take out meal of wraps, pastries, salads and fresh coffee or drinks.
